As summer the season winds down, the fall conference season kicks in full force. It is my second day back from Black Rock City, Nevada where over 65,000 desert dwellers indulged in creative workshops, admiring and climbing giant sculptures, riding art cars of different sizes and shapes, dancing, hopping and dub-stepping to non-stop music and other interactive and engaging activities and events. Out in the radical environment of unpredictable dust storms, scorching heat, scarce water supply and zero connectivity these engaging desert events are welcome forces of stimulation. It was a radically different experience yet incredible.
Event organizers are saying goodbye to paper mailers, programs and pamphlets and hello to the digital age. There is no denying we live in a mobile, social and local world and this doesn’t change just because we’re spending a few days at a conference or industry event.
